Supporting Certified Nurse Midwives — Letter to the Today Show

Nursing needs your help!

We could write an analysis of a recent feature on Certified Nurse Midwives and home births shown on the Today Show on September 11, 2009. But the American College of Nurse Midwives (ACNM) has done a great job on that in their letter to the producers. The Center would like to support the ACNM and advocate for CNMs and the important role they play in births and thus invite you to participate in a letter writing campaign directed to the producers of the Today Show. The segment entitled "The Perils of Midwifery" (now entitled "The Perils of Home Births") can be found on the Today Show website. (Scroll down the Today Show web page to find the link to the video). This segment suggested that home births managed by CNMs put mothers and babies at risk. Please see the ACNM letter, and send your own response in an e-mail message to the Today Show (or send a letter to NBC News, 30 Rockefeller Plaza, New York, NY 10112).
